godin multiac acs sa

After too many months spent without playing (see broken hand post) last August I decided to add a new wonderful guitar, a Godin Multiac ACS SA, to my collection.

Here some photos that shows you the beauty of this instrument. Soon I'll publish more shots on frankygoes.com

Godin Multiac ACS SA

ACS preamp and eq detail

me (serious ahahah !!!) and the ACS

Reasons that pushed me to got this specific guitar are various. The first is the incredible quality of Godin guitars (I've a fabulous Godin LGXT too) that leads to an amazing sound (listen to the audio demo below).

Another great reason is the fact this Multiac model mounts nylon strings and the neck is wider exactly like a spanish/flamenco classical guitar, but ACS is microphoned/preamped and almost similar to a solid body guitar, that means no feedback at very high volume levels and perfect studio recordings.

The last but not the least, the SA term means "synth access". In other words, the guitar has a 13-pin connector that linked to an exaphonic-to-midi converter - like the Roland GI-20 for example - will transform you into a midi guitarist !!!

Roland GI-20 GK-MIDI Interface

I recorded a 20 seconds demo to give you some hints about how the guitar performs, here a link to download the mp3 - demo Godin Multiac ACS SA (Guardian Angel).
What you ear is what you get from the instrument, the sound is not processed in any way. Please note the guitar was out of tune :) my fault.

Some week ago I restarted my composition and recordin' activity and soon I'll publish new songs...

handmade gibson sg guitar strap lock

DISCLAIMER
I'm not responsible for damages, injuries or any other consequence deriving if you follow the procedure described in this article !!!
BE CAREFUL, DON'T CUT YOUR FINGERS, DON'T BURN YOUR HOUSE, DON'T DO IT IF YOU ARE NOT AN EXPERIENCED PERSON WITH THE PRACTICES/TOOLS USED BELOW !!!

Ok, you're advised, let's go. If you own a Gibson SG guitar you already know a main difference that distinguishes SG from other guitars is the strap attacks' position. The low attack is located in a normal position, down in the middle of the body guitar side. But the neck strap attack is behind the SG body's back.

Gibson SG Standard

This unusual attack position, and the fact often guitar straps have not so tight holes, could eventually lead to a disastrous guitar fall while you're playing !!!

a guitar strap

To avoid this terrible event we will realize a custom homemade guitar strap lock, similar to the one in the next photo (click to zoom).

a guitar strap lock made by modifying a plastic cap

You need the following:

  • a cutter
  • one or more plastic caps
  • a lighter (or more powerful flame, like kitchen's cookers)
  • calm, patience and much caution

a cutter

a bottle's cap

Let's do it. The purpose of this article is to get a strap lock by cutting some pieces of plastic from a cap. How ? The way is to heat the cutter's blade with the lighter's flame and then cut the cap. When the blade is hot you will be able to sculpt the hard plastic with ease. Every time the blade becomes cold, and so the cut difficult, you can simply heat it again.

Of course, the important aspect of the whole procedure is giving the right shape to the cap so it can be inserted over your guitar strap to act as a lock. There is not an absolute method to get this result, but if you are a calm person and have some patience, by trying a few times you will got it. Next photos (click to zoom) will help you to understand how to shape the cap.

At first impact it could seems ugly :) but you can smooth and paint the cap or even pick some colored ones.

Obviously, you may buy a ready commercial strap lock

but some are expensive while other require you modify the guitar.

Good work.

broken hand

During these 38 years of my life I did many potentially dangerous things, like jumping from high cliffs, practicing martial arts, driving crazy on gravel lands but I never got any serious injury. Yeah, many cuts and scars, many falls and traumas, but no broken bones !!!

Until last 23rd February when I was coming back home and I got a fall from motorbike (not my guilt)... my right hand goes broken...
Everybody may imagine this kind of event is a not very desirable one for a guitar player !!!

Today, after surgery on 1st March, I can't move my hand completely yet. Of course my real hope is to play guitar again like before the damage...
Please say me "GOOD LUCK !!!" :)

welcome

Welcome to frankygoes blog.

As you may already know (if not, see more sites page) I spread my music across many famous portals to reach the biggest number of users possible. This approach got me hundreds and even thousands visits and contacts - for example look at video counters on my YouTube channel or number of played songs on my SoundCloud profile.

Not enough for me/you? Hehe, maybe. Well, I decided to add this blog to my collection for two main reasons:

  • it's based on Blogger which is owned by Google and that means every people with already a Google account - GMail, YouTube, Picasa, GTalk and more - can follow and comment my posts immediately
  • it allows me easily to be more verbose than other systems, that means probably you'll find here much more written information about my musical activities than anywhere

Hope you may appreciate my work here... good reading !!!
